2045 Recycling locations and counting!

Hospice Op Shops have now been added. This brings the total number of locations on RecycleMap to 2045!
Vital stats for the different categories are:

Cardboard & Paper – 354 locations
Batteries – 258 Locations
Polystyrene – 34 Locations
Soft Plastics – 248 Locations
Glass- 336 Locations
Op Shops – 266 Locations (So far…Still have Presbyterian Support, Red Cross, St. Vincent de Paul, The Blind Foundation (Blind Low Vision NZ) and The Salvation Army Op Shops to add!)
Food and Beverage Cartons – 94 Locations
Tin cans – 350 Locations
Cosmetics – 74 Locations
Caps & Lids – 31 Locations

Habitat for Humanity ReStores online

The 25 (at current) Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations have now been added to the Op Shop map category.

Caps and Lids map now live

The new recycling scheme from the Packaging Forum, Caps and Lids, is now live on RecycleMap.

In other news, there are now 1886 map markers across 10 active maps!

Links page now live

I’ve now added a links page that has links to the websites of all the NZ District and City Councils, along with the various recycling schemes and op shop charities featured on RecycleMap, and other related sites.

The final 3 District Councils have had their recycling facilities for cardboard, glass and cans added to recyclemap!

Coming soon, a links section, “Lid recycling” map category, and more Op Shops!

Added the recycling locations for Wairoa, Waitaki, & Waitomo District Councils. 3 councils to go!(Waipā DC didn’t have any facilities).

20/01/25

Good chunk of council locations added tonight, Upper Hutt City Council and Waikato, Waimakariri, and Waimate District Councils! Only 7 more councils left before all council facilities for Paper/Cardboard, Metal cans and glass are on recyclemap!

In other news, a links section will be next in the works, with links to each councils respective recycling pages, along with links to all major recycling schemes. Then work will recommence on adding more Op Shops, as this seems to be a very popular category based on user metrics from Google!

Added transfer stations and resource recovery parks for Taupō, Thames-Coromandel & Timaru District Councils, and Tauranga City Council.

17/01/25

Added recycle stations for Stratford, Tararua and Tasman District Councils.

Now at 1793 markers across 9 maps, including 282 Markers for cardboard & paper, 264 for Glass, and 278 for tin cans.

12/01/25

Added South Wairarapa District Council and Southland District Council recycling locations. RecycleMap is now at 1585 location markers across 9 maps!
