This site was born out of that sense of “Huh, I didn’t know you could recycle that here?!“.
Many times over the last few years I’ve noticed a new battery recycling bin or scheme, or the newish soft plastic bins. The final straw was spotting a bin in a Mitre 10 shop for polystyrene. That got me wondering how many other places had recycling bins for different materials…and wouldn’t it be great if you could see them all on a map, and not some long winded list?
Initially the plan was to start small and focus on my home town of Rotorua. But this quickly expanded to cover the rest of the country.
